IDAHO TRAUMA THERAPIST FOR SURVIVORS OF ABUSE
Kari Beck, LMSW
Licensed Master Social Worker in ID
Hey there! I’m Kari, your friendly neighborhood therapist here in Idaho. I was born and raised in Idaho's Treasure Valley, and although life has taken me to many different places, Idaho will always be home. I'm also a self-proclaimed nerd, and do my best to use that self-acceptance to bring a down-to-earth style to my work.
I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up exactly as you are. My first priority is creating an emotionally safe, welcoming environment where you don't have to filter yourself or pretend everything is okay. After all, what's the point of therapy if you can't show the real you?
Whether you're recovering from abuse, navigating complex family dynamics, or struggling with anxiety, depression, or grief, I'll meet you with warmth, authenticity, and compassion. Together, we'll move at a pace that feels right for you while building practical tools that help you move forward.
I love music and movie quotes, and you'll probably hear both during our sessions. I don't believe therapy has to feel overly formal or filled with clinical jargon to be effective. My goal is to balance professionalism with a genuine, down-to-earth approach so you feel comfortable enough to be yourself from the very beginning.
My Specialties
IDAHO TRAUMA THERAPIST
Survivors of Abuse & Human Trafficking
Experiences of abuse can change the way you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. Whether you've experienced domestic violence, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, human trafficking, or another form of interpersonal trauma, the effects often last long after the abuse has ended.
My first priority is creating an emotionally safe environment where your experiences are honored and your voice matters. Together, we'll work to better understand your story, reduce the impact trauma has on your daily life, and help you move toward a future that's defined by hope rather than survival.
Complex Family Dynamics
Families shape so much of who we become—for better and sometimes for worse.
Growing up in an unhealthy family system or navigating ongoing conflict with parents, siblings, adult children, or extended family can leave lasting emotional wounds. These experiences often influence our relationships, self-worth, and ability to trust others.
Together, we'll explore the patterns that continue to affect your life, strengthen healthy boundaries, improve communication, and help you build relationships that feel more authentic and supportive.
Anxiety & Depression Therapy
Anxiety and depression don't always look the way people expect.
Sometimes anxiety feels like constant overthinking, people-pleasing, or always waiting for something to go wrong. Depression can show up as exhaustion, numbness, isolation, or simply feeling like you're going through the motions.
You don't have to keep carrying those feelings alone. Together, we'll identify what's contributing to your distress, develop practical coping strategies, and help you reconnect with the parts of yourself that may have felt lost along the way.
Do I sound like a good fit for you?
We may connect well if:
You're recovering from abuse, exploitation, or another traumatic experience and want a therapist who will move at a pace that feels safe for you.
You've experienced human trafficking or other forms of interpersonal violence.
Complex family relationships continue to affect your self-worth, boundaries, or everyday life.
You're struggling with anxiety, depression, or feeling overwhelmed by life.
You're looking for a therapist who values authenticity, warmth, and emotional safety.
You want a space where you can be yourself without feeling judged or pressured, and without worrying about saying the "right" thing.
Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, but you don't have to have everything figured out before you begin.
