CALIFORNIA, IDAHO & WASHINGTON EFT THERAPIST
Preston Herdt, LMFT
Licensed Therapist in CA, ID, and WA
I am Preston Herdt, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) newly relocated to Northern Idaho, near Spokane, WA.
Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. As a witness to the dynamics of a small town, I saw the power of acting with genuine respect and how community members supported and cared for one another in times of need. This instilled in me a deep desire to help others, a drive that continues to guide my work today.
This dedication first led me to pursue education for a career in law enforcement, motivated by a desire to protect and serve the people in my community. After receiving my bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from California Baptist University, I took a step back to reassess my path. I realized that balancing my career with my commitment to building a family was a top priority. So, I began exploring other ways to help others while staying true to my values of service and community.
I went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy, from Azusa Pacific University. I knew that as a therapist, I would be able to help people feel seen, heard, and cared about regardless of their past. I am most interested in helping clients see themselves for who they truly are, not who they’ve been told they are, so that they can understand that even though they've been through a lot, they do not have to suffer and they do not have to see themselves as broken.
I am grateful to have a career where I can offer people hope, and I am also grateful for my family. I am a dedicated father and husband, and I value being able to be present with my loved ones, listening to music, attending church, watching movies, and playing games together.
