Breaking the Cycle.
Clearing the Path.

At Clearing The Path Therapy, LLC, we help those affected by trauma break free from cycles of stress and uncertainty.

Our focus is on providing practical, effective tools to help you regain control, build confidence, and set clear boundaries that improve your relationships and overall well-being. Using proven methods like EMDR and EFT therapy, we guide you through processing past trauma and help you move forward with a clearer, stronger mindset. No fluff, just real results.

I used to be dismissive about therapy, thinking it wasn’t for me—until I discovered how powerful it could be.

What I thought would be a simple check-the-box experience turned into a transformative journey that left me energized and seeing therapy in a whole new light. That’s what inspired me to become a therapist. Now, I help others break free from the cycle of trauma, set stronger boundaries, and build healthier relationships.

Even if you've been dealt a “bad hand”, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck. You don’t have to continue living out the same trauma cycles or fall into yet another unsatisfying relationship with weak boundaries and even weaker communication.

A Collaborative Approach to Therapy

I believe in a collaborative and client-centered approach to therapy, treating everyone who walks through my door as an individual. I take the time to hear you out so I can understand your unique situation and experiences and ensure the help I offer makes a difference in your life. Through working with me, you’ll build confidence and safety within yourself, using that confidence to build a fulfilling life and lasting, healthy relationships. I take my work seriously, continuing to learn as a therapist and honing my skills to better help others.

My goal is to create a therapy space where you can feel free to open up, without judgment or blame. Through our work together, my aim is to give you a sense of clarity and control, like the weight you’ve been carrying is finally lifted. You’ll be invited to explore your thoughts and feelings, gain insight on who you are and how you want to show up in the world, and learn new communication and coping strategies. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, or life transitions, I can help you navigate your path forward.

Meet Preston Herdt

Licensed Therapist in CA, ID, and WA

I am Preston Herdt, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) newly relocated to Northern Idaho, near Spokane, WA.

Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to make a difference in people's lives. As a witness to the dynamics of a small town, I saw the power of acting with genuine respect and how community members supported and cared for one another in times of need. This instilled in me a deep desire to help others, a drive that continues to guide my work today.

This dedication first led me to pursue education for a career in law enforcement, motivated by a desire to protect and serve the people in my community. After receiving my bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from California Baptist University, I took a step back to reassess my path. I realized that balancing my career with my commitment to building a family was a top priority. So, I began exploring other ways to help others while staying true to my values of service and community.

I went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy, from Azusa Pacific University. I knew that as a therapist, I would be able to help people feel seen, heard, and cared about regardless of their past. I am most interested in helping clients see themselves for who they truly are, not who they’ve been told they are, so that they can understand that even though they've been through a lot, they do not have to suffer and they do not have to see themselves as broken.

I am grateful to have a career where I can offer people hope, and I am also grateful for my family. I am a dedicated father and husband, and I value being able to be present with my loved ones, listening to music, attending church, watching movies, and playing games together.
