Therapy for Breaking Cycles & Rebuilding Connection
THERAPY IN IDAHO, WASHINGTON & CALIFORNIA
At Clearing the Path Therapy, we’re helping people to redefine their understanding of themselves and rebuild their lives and relationships.
In-person therapy in Coeur d’Alene, ID & online therapy in WA & CA.
When your past shows up in your present, that disruption can make life difficult.
Our past experiences may show up in who we are today, but they don’t have to define us. At Clearing the Path Therapy, LLC I support people as they process past trauma, helping them tap into self-confidence and a life built with intention.
When you do the work of therapy, you’re heading towards where you want to be.
For new parents who want to break generational cycles, for couples ready to let go of negative patterns and embrace new and healthy ways of connecting, and for people who want to show up differently in their lives, I can help.
Imagine feeling more confident in your decisions, more connected in your relationships, and more in control when challenges arise.
How I Can Support You
EFT & EMDR THERAPIST IN ID, WA & CA
EMDR Intensive Therapy
Through intensive EMDR sessions, you’ll be able to make rapid progress in processing traumatic memories.
Instead of weekly sessions over months, longer EMDR intensive sessions over a few days allow you and your therapist to dig deep, focusing your energy on reprocessing your trauma quickly and effectively.
EMDR Therapy
Ready to shake off the weight of trauma so you can be a better parent, a better partner, and live a life where you feel like your best self?
Whether your trauma is recent, generational, or rooted in ongoing traumatic experiences, EMDR therapy can help you break the cycle. EMDR often works even when conventional talk therapy hasn’t helped.
EFT Couples Therapy
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) for couples offers a path toward understanding, openness, and connection.
By identifying negative cycles and acknowledging emotional experiences, you and your partner can communicate and connect in a different way—one that builds safety and intimacy together.
Also offering EMDR consultation for therapists!

Whether you’re navigating trauma, relationship struggles, or life transitions, I’m here to help.
Meet Preston Herdt, LMFT
Therapist. Husband. Father.
Real-world perspective.
I didn’t always see the value in therapy until I experienced it for myself. My experience with counseling shifted my thinking and showed me how powerful this work can be when it’s honest, focused, and real. That experience led me here.
I’m a licensed therapist in California, Idaho, and Washington. My approach is straightforward, grounded in EMDR and EFT, and shaped by my background in law enforcement, my faith, and my commitment to helping people find clarity and a sense of relief from the weights they carry.

As a therapist, I approach clients as I’d like to be treated. You deserve to be met where you are and heard without judgment or criticism when you share what you’ve been through. I respect all of my clients as experts about their individual points of view and experiences.
This approach aligns with my personal values and helps me be a better therapist. Getting to know a client without allowing bias to creep into our interactions means I can figure out what therapeutic approach will benefit you the most. Do you need to be challenged? Do you need to feel heard and seen? By showing up with curiosity and interest, I can help make your therapy experience the best fit possible.
